In a partnership between the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Green Bay Area Public Schools, the Music for a Great City Program uses music and the arts to engage 6th graders in all area schools for success in learning and in life. Music-based activities will be integrated into a two-week curriculum, and students will receive visits from GBSO musicians, music director Donato Cabrera, guest artists and GBSO administration. Every student and their parents will be invited to attend a concert of the GBSO free of charge after the in-school activities are completed.
The curriculum will demonstrate how the study of music can prepare students for future success in life and in learning. The program also introduces students to the concert experience. Music for a Great City breaks down economic, cultural and geographic barriers, allowing all students to be involved while experiencing the art form.
