The Green Bay Symphony offers enlightening education and outreach
programs that not only bring the joy of music to everyone but also enhance the culture and quality of life in northeast Wisconsin.
In addition to our Youth Orchestra and Adopt a School programs, the GBSO launched the Music for a Great City program in the Green Bay Area Public Schools in fall 2011.
The MFGC program integrates music-based activities into the schools' curriculum, plus visits from GBSO musicians, administration and Music Director Donato Cabrera. All sixth graders enrolled in general music classes, beginning band and orchestra at each of the five middle schools in the district participate in a two-week program. The students and their parents are then invited to attend a GBSO classical concert, free of charge, and bus transportation is also provided.
"Music for a Great City" breaks down economic, cultural and geographic barriers, allowing students to be involved in music-based activities while experiencing this art form.
