Youth Symphony
Michael Ross, Conductor
In the Youth Symphony, a student becomes a "seasoned" pre-professional. Their playing becomes more fluid and refined, their stage presence becomes more comfortable, and their passion for performing grows. The only thing missing is experience. In this ensemble, students are introduced to routines and practices modeled after those of a professional symphony orchestra. Students play original music (not arrangements). The Youth Symphony features one member in a concerto performance each year. The most advanced students in the Youth Symphony can be involved with our extensive chamber music program.

Philharmonia
Jim Thaldorf, Conductor
In the Philharmonia, the students learn how exciting it is to be part of a full orchestra! For young musicians proficient on violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, harp and percussion...this is phenomenal. They get to take their newly refined skills and experience something others can only dream about. The growth that occurs at this level is astounding!

String Orchestra
Audrey Nowak, Conductor
This ensemble takes students from the beginning of their playing careers to the next level. Violin, viola, cello, and bass players learn the fundamental skills required for successful team playing and rehearsals. Orchestral bowing techniques, proficiency at note reading, and learning to follow a conductor are just some of the skills emphasized. The skills are taught using a variety of repertoire from arrangements of classical favorites to familiar folk songs, from popular music to jazz, and everything in-between!
